Scott played hockey at Burnsville High School from 1984 to 1986; he won State Championships in 1985 and 1986. Scott was an NHL Draft pick of the Calgary Flames.
Scott played hockey at the University of Minnesota from 1986 to 1990, playing in 3 Final Fours.
Graduated with a degree in Child Psychology and minor in Criminology.
Scott coached the New Prague Bantam A team in 2007-2008 and is currently an Assistant Varsity coach for the New Prague boys high school team; he resides in New Prague with Wife Jody and Daughter Ella.
